July 2008

My grandfather is in a pretty bad shape, like really bad. Yesterday when we went to see him, he was so out of it we thought he was given morphine again but he wasn’t. Seemingly when they did blood tests, it showed he has a low pxygen blood count and therefore was given oxygen to help. The doctors say the lack of oxygen to his brain has also caused him to be agitated and confused (along with old age memory loss), which will probably explain why one minute he seems fine, the next he’s away with the fairies. Yesterday he looked at me and asked what time my flight was, then later he looked at his watch and said hello into it and also thought there was a man climbing up a chimey outside the hospital and when we said there wasn’t he bit our heads off. He’s nice one minute, the next he gets so angry at you, I know he doesn’t mean it but 7aram all the anger seems to go on my mom and she’s only trying to help him.

Yesterday, he had minor surgery (while awake) to insert a tube into his belly to remove the excess water, they managed to drain quite a bit, but his belly is still rock hard. You’d think he’s really fat looking at his belly, it’s so swollen but it’s the tumor and the water retention that gives him the pot belly. He used to be quite a big guy (size XL) but now he’s like a skeleton and his skin is hanging off him, except his belly. My mom and I helped him move up on the hospital bed, and I saw his arms for the first time, they are like twigs, I was scared I’d break his bones. No matter what we did to help him get comfy, he was in so much pain and so un-comfy he got more and more grumpy.

When mom & I were up at the hospital this afternoon, he was alright one minute, the next his eyes slowly closed and he dosed off, then the next he was awake and confused, then back to sleep. It’s really scary seeing him like this and every few minutes, we’d get close to see if he was actually breathing because things are that bad.

I came back to my apartment after the afternoon visiting cause of work next week, my mom & aunt went up this evening to see him and basically said that he’s looking much much worse, out of the 1 hour spent visiting him (hospital rules), only 5 minutes were awake. He kept falling in and out of sleep, poor guy 🙁 They managed to speak to the doctor incharge who said that he has a high temperature, they had to do an emergency x-ray because no more fluid was coming out of his belly and they didn’t know why or even how the water was being retained like this. They want to do more blood tests and do a sputum (spit) test as they think he now has an infection.

We were then told to prepare ourselves because they (and my mom) don’t think he’ll make it out of hospital. Only time will tell, but every day he’s going downhill fast and he’s wasting away before our eyes and that hurts so much.

I hope he finds peace soon, even though it will tear me to shreds, I don’t want him in any more pain

While I was at work earlier this afternoon, I checked my mobile and had a miss call from mom 15 mind beforehand saying that my grandfather was in hospital and to go home. I called here and she said that he was complaining of severe pains in his stomach and sides. My mom called the doctor and said he’d be over later on but the pains got worse and my mom had to call an ambulance.

In the ER Department they gave him morphine for the pain and said his belly was full of water retention. That’s all I know so far.

I’m heading to the hospital in a bit so will update you tonight

Update: I’m just back from the hospital, he looks really bad, he’s in alot of pain and the morphine has worn off! He’s very jaundice and it looks like he’ll be in for a week, he’s getting fluid in his belly removed tomorrow as he has alot of water retention 🙁

Lying in a huge double bed like a star fish, stretching like there’s no tomorrow and the sound of utter silence before you close your eyes and dream away LOL

I love lying in bed, it’s so comfy and cosy especially after a long day!

Gnite beeble, got to wake up in 8 hours so I’m gonna enjoy my star fish position before my alarm wakes me up hehe

Love from touchie & me :*

My mom called me the other day to say that my grandpa fell really hard on the pavement outside on the way to get his feet looked at by a choropodist. My mom couldn’t lift him up so she had to run to a neighbour to get help. She banged on the door for help and the poor guy was in his boxers and ran across the street to help without any shoes on!

After picking him up my mom thanked him and he was going to help him into the house but my mom said it was okay and they were going to the doctor so he helped him in the car before going back to his house.

My mom wanted to take him to the doctor but the stubborn old goat refused saying he was okay which is really annoying but in sure he had his reasons *uuuuuff* so now he’s the proud owner of very very bruised knees and thankfully my mom was there and took the main brunt of the fall by standing infront and catching the full force, but now she’s hurting!

I just came back from his house, I was there for the weekend again and he’s going downhill really really fast. I’ve kinda stopped blogging so much about it cause it’s really hard to deal with, especially since I’m really close to him and I’m watching him waste away.

He’s hardly eating because he gets full, he gets nose bleeds all the time, his legs are swollen and covered in blisters which burst and we’re scared will get infected, he nearly choked last night while coughing and ended up vomiting, his back is killing him, he can hardly walk, his memory is really bad now, and he’s in pain.

I seriously admire him with everything he’s going through and still has a smile on his face

I don’t want to lose him

4 hours into Day 1 of work, I wanted to quit… I seriously hated it but as the days past (erm I’m just going into day 4?) and I do kinda like it now, especially the 4 other people that sit next to me.

Funny thing was, when I went to the office on Day 1 we had to sign a confidentiality agreement promising not to discuss any of the work that we carry out so yah… you won’t find out much about what I do… all I can say is that I work with a Government Organization and deal with Fraud.

But seriously if I hear another “you have the right to remain silent” I will rip my hair out! It’s also funny how so many people try to make excuses and lie to get out of trouble lol

Sorry I haven’t updated in a while, been a busy bee and as of tomorrow I probably won’t have time to update my blog properly, unless I try and fit it in between everything else! So here are little titbits of what’s been going on in Planet Ananyah

My dad came for the weekend, I go to my grandfather’s house every Friday and leave on Sunday night (except I stayed til this afternoon, this time). My grandfather lives in a 2 bedroom house, so I normally slept in the spare room with my mom, but cause dad was over, I had to sleep on the sofa on Friday night. I woke up feeling like crap and felt pain all over *cries* On Saturday, my parents bought a new matress for my grandfather’s bed so I slept on his old one (on the living room floor) and I woke up on Sunday morning with pains in places I never knew existed. I was walking around like the Hunchback of Notre Dame and couldn’t move my back. Seriously, it killed! I’m never ever sleeping on the floor again, or on a really old matress with springs popping in places!

On Saturday morning, I awoke at 7am to my grandfather screaming for help, I rush through to him and he is sitting on his bed with blood running down his face, blood in his mouth, blood gushing from his nose. I ran to get a bowl of water, a cup of water, some tissues, a towel and some baby wipes and start to clean him up. But, no sooner had I cleaned him up, but more blood was gushing out. I banged on the door to wake my parents up, my mom came out and immediately called the Nurse who is looking after my grandfather, but luckily I got the blood to stop. Poor thing, he was really scared. He woke up coughing and when he rubbed his mouth, he noticed blood. He was choking on the blood that dripped from his nose into his mouth. It was pretty scary and once he calmed down, I tried to make him smile and laugh. I was using baby wipes to clean up the dried blood on his face and jokingly I said OPEN UP to his wrinkles so I could get the blood that stuck inbetween the creases, so he laughed at that hehe. Shitty thing is, he is now developing Bed Sores and the Nurses said we had to look out for open wounds as they could get easily infected. Everynight before he sleeps, my mom has to check his legs and arms for any more *sigh* So make things worse, his memory is getting really really bad. Last weekend when I was over, he said to me “omg why is there soilders outside”, I look out the window and there is nothing there. He then says “behind the tree, they are hiding there”, Again nothing. It was really scary!

I got back in touch with two really really old friends that I met when I was 8 while living in Singapore. They are 10 years older than me, but we always got on so well. I lost there email a few years ago and did a facebook check and voila they popped up 😀 The world is so tiny tiny and I’m glad we’re back in touch, would suck to lose touch with them.

I start work tomorrow for a huge UK engineering company for a while, it’s just a temporary role for the summer but I’m looking forward to it, especially they salary to add to my “special fund” which will be revealed at the end of the year for all those nosy beeble 😀

I chopped 5 inches off of my hair today, well not me, the hairdresser did. I was growing it and growing it until it got too hard to manage and look nice, so after getting off the train, I went into the little salon in the station and asked to get it chopped off. My head now feels lighter and I’m liking it. Pictures will come soon 😀

I bought new sneakers and baggy pants for the gym in a bid to motivate myself to go back to it. It’s been a while and I’m starting to look like the Michelin Man. My iPod is updated with new songs, my bag is packed… all I need to do is come home from work tomorrow, pick up my gym bag and walk 5 minutes to the place, how hard can that be? I have my workout schedule there from when the trainer made it up. So basically I’ll spend around 2 hours there (if I’m feeling good) before coming home to study for a few hours. This is all part of my master plan which ties in with the reason behind me getting a job lol

I miss my twirlies, I haven’t spoken to them in days and now juju is in the US of Aiii, it will be harder to catch up til she’s back. But anyhooo, love you guys ;****

Anyhoo, that’s basically all that’s been happening, I better go do some laundry and fix what I’m gonna wear before going to bed. I have to wake up early tomorrow *cries*

Til next time ;*
