Couch Potato-ness

I love nothing better than being a lazy butt watching TV all weekend long. I don’t think I could ever get bored of catching up on my favourite TV shows, staying in my PJ’s all day with mountains of snacks beside me, only getting up to go to the bathroom LOL…to me, that’s relaxation heaven!

I’m off work on a mini holiday until April 10th. I was supposed to be going to Paris but then passport-gate struck. My poor passport expired & I had no idea LOL. By the time I realised, the flights to Paris were at a crazy price due to it being the Easter period and the cost of renewing my passport at the same time meant I couldn’t do both. So… no Paris for me, for now. Spring time in Paris is my all time favourite as well *sigh*

Instead, I’m spending my time off doing what I love best… being a couch potato! Watching my favourite TV shows which are currently; Unforgettable, Body of Proof, Smash, NCIS & Criminal Minds. Being a bum on our huge leather sofa surrounded by lots of cushions & snacks! I’d rather be a couch potato on that fabric sofa above though! How amazing is that sofa? I don’t think I’d ever get off it though!

Work has pretty much got in the way of TV watching, I’m missing out on new TV shows & lost track on what episode I’ve caught up with after downloading them all! What are your favourite TV shows at the moment? Are you a couch potato like me? What’s your ideal way to spend time off work? Let me know :D

Chillaxing

When I was younger, I loved nothing better than to go out all the time, run around crazily with my friends & basically never sit still. Now I’m in my late 20′s & there is nothing better than chilling out & relaxing on the sofa watching tv, listening to music, napping & reading a book. Signs of me getting old? I think so. But it’s amazing. So amazing I have even invested in a Slanket. Yes, I just admitted that to the world but there is nothing better than a huge bucket of popcorn, watching a movie in your PJ’s curled up on the sofa.

For me, sofas need be to huge, comfy as anything with huge pillows. The type of sofa that you can bury yourself in & never want to get up (same goes for beds really!). Leather or Fabric, I have no favourites as long as they make you never want to get up. While we were renovating my grandfather’s house as previously said in a past post, choosing the furnishing was the biggest job as to me, the furniture makes a home. My mom looked around online at different sofas, she has a specific idea in mind especially since my dad basically told her “I want this, not that, this colour, not that”. So before looking we all had a specific image in our head what we wanted, but didn’t know if we could get it. One thing for sure is that it had to be leather and black to match a colour scheme that my parents had in mind for the living room. That is what we eventually got.

Recently I’ve been looking at some CSL Sofa’s wishing that when my bedroom was being built, I could have had enough space for my own dedicated sofa that I could escape to, rather than in the living room. I opted for a walk-in wardrobe instead & I’m not sure no matter how comfy a sofa was, if I’d give that up hahaha

What is your luxury at home? Are you a couch potato like me?

Design Inspiration

When I was a younger, I had a 3D Architecture program that I used to play with on my computer. I used to envision creating my own house, designing the interiors & fitting it out with my favourite colours & furniture. I used to decide where I wanted the light and power sockets to do, how big I wanted the rooms, where furniture would be placed & what colour the walls were. This was my dream plan as a little girl.

Nowadays, I’m more realistic and realise that I’d probably never get to build my own house from scratch, but eventually I shall be able to own my own place & make it mine by interior design. I love watching Grand Designs, Restoration Man, Extreme Makeover Home Edition & The Home Show.

When my parents bought my grandfathers house shortly after his death, we got an extension. My dad created a drawing on how he wanted the extension, how many rooms, what walls to pull down & I loved the fact that my parents could do that. When it came to my bedroom, I have control about where I wanted power sockets, heaters, my walk-in wardrobe and doors. I remember that I was unhappy about where the doors were doing to be aligned to enter my walk-in wardrobe and demanded they were changed, not sure the builders were happy at the fact they had to move them, but after all, my parents were paying for it to be built how we wanted it. End result? I love it. I have also come to the conclusion that I like perfectly aligned lines, maybe I have an OCD?

Then Google Sketchup was created & I’ve become obsessed again with drawing & creating my own place. Maybe it’s my mind telling me that I’m now 29 & it’s about time I get my own place? Sadly, that won’t happen anytime soon unless I win the lottery LOL

I’ve started looking at websites thinking “oh I’d love those corner sofas in my living room”, “I wish my kitchen was like that” or “I love that entire bedroom layout”. So much so that I now have plans in my head to re-design my bedroom.

My bedroom is still pretty much a blank canvas, it has pine wooden flooring, white doors, light blue walls & that is it. I haven’t properly designed it & keep looking at TV Shows along with design websites for inspiration on how I want my bedroom to eventually look with accessories.

The result is this photograph. I’m in love with everything in this bedroom (except the light!).

If I did have my own place & had full control over the entire design, then the following photographs are how I’d potentially style it. Big comfy corner sofas, light colours, cushions, art work, lots of light & most of all, coziness.
