What can I say about these 4 girls and their troubles? For years, I watched every single episode of their TV series, drooled over their wardrobes (well Charlotte’s anyway… y’know… classic, beautiful, simplistic, and refined) and the movie came back in a way to kind of put an end to the story, close a chapter if you like and it did.
In the movie we find out Mr.Big’s name which is pretty boring, I think I’ll stick to Mr.Big… I still wonder why he’s called Mr.Big…. but then again the movie does talk about sex (alot) so erm…. *giggle* There is alot of ups & downs, friendship tests, love stories, arguments and happy endings. I fall in love with New York everytime I watch Sex & the City and I’d love nothing better than to stroll through Central Park with a coffee and my camera.
To me, the movie may not be as amazing as the TV series, but it makes you think about your friends and how much they mean to you, the journeys you go through together and are there for eachother in good times and bad who mean much much more than any love in your life. And how could you forget all the outfits, handbags and shoes? Oh & naked men! What more could you ask for in a movie?
This is the ultimate chick (and gay) flick but I’m pretty sure straight men will enjoy it too
Tonight I decided I was craving steak and we didn’t have any sauce for it in my grandfather’s house, so I decided to create my own with some ingredients I found in the fridge, the result was amazing so here is the recipe
Mushroom Sauce:
Chop up mushrooms, onions and cherry tomatoes, add olive oil into a frying pan and fry until soft. Add some salt, ground pepper and ground mixed herbs and stir. Next, add some lemon juice and white grape juice. When some of the liquid evaporates, stir in some single cream and stir for a few minutes. Take off the heat and put ontop of your meat. I used steak but you could use this on chicken… it tastes amazing!
Steak:
Put into a frying pan with olive oil, season the steaks on both sides with salt, pepper and dried mixed herbs for taste. Fry on one side for 3-4 minutes, turn over for an additional 2 minutes for a medium steak… slightly longer is you like it well done.
Side Salad in a Parmigiano-Reggiano and Herb Sauce:
Fresh Salad, I used watercress, spinach and rocket leaves (but could use any lettuce variety), cucumbers, cherry tomatoes. The dressing was made using 1 cup mayonnaise, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon onion powder, 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground pepper, 1/2 teaspoon of dried herbs, 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese and Salt & Pepper which was all mixed together then drizzled on the salad.
Finished Product:
It was yummy, I wish I had more
Dessert:
This is my grandfather’s favourite ice cream ever and I’ve been eating it since I was a little kid. It’s ultra creamy and great quality! I put 2 scoops into a bowl along with chopped strawberries which were spinkled with some sugar to make sweeter.
& there you go, that is all currently in my tummy and I wish there was more

He held his head in his hands, while crying he said “I’m just so so tired”
It was then I knew that no matter how much I try to make him smile, no matter how much I try to act normal around him, cook for him, clean his house, wash his clothes, give him his medication and help him up from his chair, I’m still completely helpless & it hurts.
I wish I could rewind the clock, but life isn’t as simple as that. I love him to pieces, I’ve stopped my life, struggling to do my masters thesis with everything going on, put my plans on hold, moved in with him to look after him, but I do not regret that, I regret the day he was diagnosed with cancer.

This afternoon, I decided to chill out in my grandfather’s garden to read a magazine and get some fresh air while trying to snap some pictures of chewy the doggy, which proved a little unsuccessful  It was a nice day, pretty sunny but a little windy so I ended up coming back inside to watch some TV before cooking dinner for my grandfather. I’ll leave you now with some snaps
On Thursday, I took a break from looking after my grandfather and went to the movies leaving him with my mom. I was supposed to go with one of my friends but 30 minutes before we were supposed to meet up, she smsed me saying she was too tired to come out, so I decided to just go to the movie alone for some “me time”. It’s a big intimidating buying 1 ticket and especially when you go to buy popcorn, I feel everyone’s eyes are on you! Finding a seat in the cinema proved to be a little tricky, but I managed to get a whole row of seats to myself, that was until a guy watching the movie alone decided to sit near me, and then another guy alone as well. I now re-name that, the loner row!
So the movie, well… It’s Indiana Jones, what can’t you love? Harrison Ford is not bad in it for a 60 year old and Shia LaBeouf give it added eye candy. Set this time 19 years after the last Indy movie, it’s the 50’s and Mutt (Shia) hunts down Indy to help him find an old friend who has been kidnapped, along the way there are tons of cheesy lines, some good fight scenes and a bad eastern european accent by Cate Blanchett. The movie was a little predicable in parts, but still very entertaining watching how all the characters interact with eachother to find the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and return it to it’s “owners”.
Even though it has got some pretty bad press since it’s showcase in Cannes, you should still see it for some light entertainment, but don’t expect it to be as great as Iron Man.
This new TV ad for Drench Spring Water in the UK featuring Brains from Thunderbirds cracks me up, one of the funniest adverts around. It is all done by puppetering and you can see the strings of the puppet at the beginning of the video. The advert features the cult 90s hit ‘Rhythm is a Dancer’ by SNAP!

Tell me how you are supposed to stay strong when you’ve been given the worst news possible? When the consultant took my mom & I into a room and broke the news to us, we couldn’t help but cry even though we were trying to stay (or pretend to be) strong. Even though on Monday they told us that he possibly does have cancer, it didn’t really hit me until today when it was confirmed.
A CT Scan confirmed that he has a large tumor in his liver, it is too big to remove thus in-operable. However, you cannot get liver cancer, basically it had to start from somewhere then attack itself to the liver. They think that it started in the bowel/pancreas because of other symptoms he has especially the bowel/digestion problems. Tonight he is getting an endoscopy to determine where the cancer has originated from and what stage he is in.

It’s breaking my heart seeing my grandfather in pain, he hasn’t ate since 8pm on Sunday night because he was told he was getting tests done on Monday. It’s now 11:20pm on Tuesday and he still hasn’t been allowed any food and he still hasn’t been taken for his CT and MRI Scan as there is a huge backlog of patients. When he was first admitted he was Nil by Mouth, now he’s Free Fluid but poor thing he’s starving and all he can do is just wait!
My mom arrived this afternoon and is pissed at the fact that they told him he may have a potentially severe form of cancer and are leaving him waiting and waiting without telling him (or us!) anything, not to mention not allowing him to eat even though he won’t be seen tonight.
My grandfather’s skin is really yellow, he’s on a saline drip and to make things worse, he had a bathroom accident during visiting hours. For a long time, when he needs the bathroom he basically NEEDS TO GO ASAP and 2 weeks ago while out he ended up peeing himself because he didn’t make the bathroom in time, then a few days later blood started appearing in his stool. Today at the hospital, he needed the bathroom, but because of the saline drip he couldn’t get to the bathroom in time and started panicking and getting really upset because he peed himself infront of us and then he ended up having diarrhea at the same time, he couldn’t help it but he still got really upset like he was about to cry. I think the hardest bit for him was the fact that we were there and he was helpless. Of course we were telling him it’s okay don’t worry and we called the nurses to come help clean him up and I handed over some clean boxer shorts and PJ’s. A few hours later, it happened again.
I hate the feeling of being helpless, but what hurts the most if the not knowing. We still don’t know 100% if he does have Pancreatic Cancer and now another doctor is saying that they think his liver has been affected as well. My aunt is a Senior ER Nurse and she told me straight that she doesn’t think he will get allowed out of hospital and doesn’t think he’ll make his 82nd Birthday on June 20th.
I really hope she’s wrong *sigh*
