I’m excited to let you all know that the glitz and glamour of the red carpet is coming to Glasgow next month.
The 61st BFI London Film Festival in partnership with American Express is putting on a special cine-cast of the live red carpet event at the Opening Night gala in London, followed by the European premiere of Breathe. I’ve got my tickets and you could be front and centre of the action too on October 4th 2017 from the comfort of Cineworld on Renfrew Street. Evening gowns and tuxedos are completely optional, but who am I to begrudge some mid-week glamour!
Showcasing the best of British and International filmmaking, the Opening Night gala is the start of a thrilling 12 days of world cinema. Between October 4th and 15th 2017, over 240 feature films will be showcased around various locations in London produced and directed by famous names to emerging talent breaking into the film industry. With thrillers such as ‘Blade Of The Immortal’ to the thought provoking ‘The Breadwinner’, there is a range of films catering to all genres that will surely entertain all audiences.
The audience will be able to sit back and watch some of our favourite stars walk the red carpet at the Opening Night gala – beamed direct from Odeon Leicester Square, hear interviews with cast and crew, then settle down for the European premiere of Breathe, Andy Serkis’ directorial debut which was chosen from all submissions to officially open this years’ festival.
Breath is a heart-warming inspirational true story of love without limits, an emotional celebration of bravery, human possibility and living every breath as though it’s your last.
Based on the true story of producer Jonathan Cavendish’s own parents, Andy Serkis’ brings to life the inspiring true love story between Robin and Diana Cavendish (Andrew Garfield, Claire Foy), an adventurous couple who refuse to give up in the face of adversity. At 28, Robin is struck down with polio while working in Kenya and is left completely paralysed from the neck down; dependent on a respirator to breathe for him.
Diagnosed with only a few months to live, with the help of Diana’s twin brothers (Tom Hollander) and the ground-breaking ideas of inventor Teddy Hall (Hugh Bonneville), Robin and Diana dare to escape the hospital ward to seek out a full and passionate life together – raising their young son, traveling, devoting their lives to helping other polio patients and dazzling others with their humour, courage and lust for life.
Officially released in cinemas across the UK and Ireland on October 27th, you will be one of the first to watch the film before general release making the evening all the more special.
