BBC Good Food Show 2014

BBC Good Food Show Scotland

It’s almost time for the BBC Good Food Show Scotland 2014 and this year, it’s going to be between 17 – 19 October at the SECC. I loved the show last year and I met so many stall holders, chefs, bursary winners and of course, the winner of  Glasgow’s Best Deli 2013 . It was a wonderful weekend and this year it can only get better.

Once again, I’m going to be  judging the hunt to find Glasgow’s Best Deli 2014 alongside Barney Desmazery (Food Editor, BBC Good Food Magazine) , Katy Truss (Fabulous Food Finds and BBC Good Food Shows’ Artisan Food Specialist), Laura Biggs (Managing Director of BBC Good Food Shows), and other fellow BBC Good Food Show Scotland Bloggers.

After an extensive Glasgow wide search last year, Billington’s of Lenzie won the vote. As winners, they received a free stand at the Food Show and showcased some of their produce. I popped by to see how they were coping with the crowds and they were loving it! Now… it’s time for another Deli to hold the crown.

The search is now on for Glasgow’s Best Deli 2014.

After the success of the initiative in 2013, the search is on to find Glasgow’s Best Deli 2014.We are once again teaming up with BBC Good Food Magazine to search for the best deli in Glasgow and the surrounding area. The winner will receive a free stand at the BBC Good Food Show Scotland at the SECC from 17 – 19 October to showcase their produce to all the food loving visitors.

Katy Truss, who manages the scheme on behalf of the BBC Good Food Shows says, “Last year we uncovered Billingtons of Lenzie, a fabulous local deli, who had a great time showcasing their deli at the show to thousands of food lovers. I can’t wait to get out there again and find this year’s winner.”

Delis and independent food shops are urged to encourage their customers, fans and suppliers to nominate them for the competition, or apply by nominating themselves. The judges will be looking at the following:

  • Range of international and local produce?
  • Quality and value of produce?
  • Product knowledge and enthusiasm
  • Customer service?
  • Services, facilities and community involvement

To nominate please visit:Glasgow’s Best Deli 2014 Entry Page

Deadline for applications is 22nd August 2014.

The show this year will feature Paul Hollywood, Mary Berry, John Torode, James Martin and Tom Kitchin to name a few. Along with chef demo’s and the interview stage, there are two new shopping areas this year; the Eat Well Pavilion for those looking for healthy or free-from foods and the Bakes & Cakes Village for all things baking. If you are a local food officiato then you don’t want to miss the small artisan producers in the Producers’ Village and Scotland Regional Pavilion and iconic brands and traditional favourites too.

Who do you think will win Glasgow’s Best Deli 2014? Do you have a favourite? Will you be going to the show this year?
