Wind Storms

Last Night, I couldn’t sleep. I was in bed trying to get warm, then all of a sudden the windows start shaking, my bedroom door starts shaking, my wardrobe doors shake and I put the cover over the head and keep my eyes out and kept staring at the windows thinking they were going to smash and kill me (once again, too much CSI).

It was so scary! The wind was so strong, car alarms were going off everywhere, boxes and bottles flying around. Every so often, I heard fire engines and police vans zooming past my window and that was me for around 3 hours! Scared outta my mind and calling a friend to tell them I was scared :(

I finally fell asleep around 4:30am and woke up feeling like I’ve been stamped on by a cow and looked at the newspapers online to see if they reported anything about last nite and damn I was shocked!

Last night, the wind was like 150 km/h (90 mph) and caused distruction all over the place, roofs flew off buildings, cars got crushed my trees, bridges were closed off, power going off all over the city *shiver*.

Here’s what a newspaper wrote:

Scotland was in a state of chaos today after being battered by 90mph (150 km/h) winds and floods. Roads were closed, buildings damaged, bridges shut and train lines affected after a night of atrocious weather that saw widespread flooding, flying debris closing streets and people evacuated. Around 18,000 homes in Glasgow, Ayrshire, Inverclyde and Argyll were without power.

More than a fifth of the average monthly rainfall fell in just 12 hours in Glasgow as gusts hit 75mph at their 4am peak. From 6pm, 20mm fell. The average January rainfall is 97mm. After a torrential night, Strathclyde Fire and Rescue received 180 calls and attended 144 incidents

The photo shows some wooden fences and other debris that the wind brought down, 2 minutes from my apartment.

It’s kinda scary & I hope tonight is calmer :S

    @Laialy_q8 – It was much better, that night was so scary tho! Sometimes that’s why I hate living alone!

    @Mark – thx :)

    @Marzouq – There isn’t a big enough space under the bed, suitcases can hardly fit under it :P

    @shopa – I second that :(
